In a significant contribution to the Maryville community, Nodaway County Services funded the updates to the playground at Sisson Eek Park on Lincoln Street. The newly designed playground emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring that exciting play opportunities are available to everyone, without specifically appearing as an inclusive playground. The park was chosen for its existing wheelchair-accessible bathroom and pavilion, making it an ideal location for this enhancement. In collaboration with Maryville Parks and Recreation, ABcreative and Nodaway County Services designed a cohesive layout that seamlessly integrates the park's existing features with new, turnkey-installed play equipment. The updated Sisson Eek Park now serves as a vibrant and welcoming space for community members of all abilities.
The playground equipment was selected to address gaps in Maryville's existing facilities. The large rope structure can support over 30 climbers simultaneously. The zero entry merry-go-round is designed for wheelchair accessibility. Additionally, there's an interactive game that requires participants to wind a handle to power it, and shaded areas are available for relaxation. The play equipment already in the park was incorporated into the new playground and new synthetic turf safety surfacing covers the entire playground.
