What does it mean to “re-imagine” a playground?
EH Young Riverfront Park is an older established park, about 20 years old, with plenty of mature trees and close to the Missouri River. Re-imagining the park meant creating a destination playground surrounded by a park that answered what the community wanted and one where the kids could create and discover.
The playground was re-imagined to include:
- Adventure play area featuring a 3-story climbing tower with multiple slides
- Outdoor musical instrument ensemble
- Low ropes course with a Speedway zipline
- O’Tannenbaum spinning tree
- Family size embankment slide
- Variety of swings
- Area for younger children to engage in active, inclusive and imaginative play
- And so much more!

What play equipment manufacturers do you use?
One of our strengths is that we are proactive about finding the best play equipment to meet the need. We aren’t tied to just one single manufacturer. This means, we work with a variety of manufacturers and cherry pick the best items based on the playground we are designing.
Our portfolio includes manufacturers such as: Berliner Seilfabrik, and ID Sculpture
All are established, quality-oriented companies that offer innovative designs and components. Even better, our manufacturers are open to working together. Although we didn’t do it at the EH Young playground, at other playgrounds we have attached Berliner rope play to traditional equipment and to ID Sculptures. This gives us a whole new way to think about and design playgrounds.
