Why was ABcreative chosen for the project?

The Burke play structure design and ABCreative’s ability to organize and facilitate a community build project.

Project overview and highlights.

Roland-Story set out to do a major playground renovation and one of their main goals was to have community involvement and get the very best playground for their money.

ABcreative and Burke competed with other playground manufacturers and according to those making the decision, it was an easy decision. We listened carefully to what the school was looking for in the play structure and the Burke team designed specifically to those wishes while maximizing the budget.

Organizing a ‘community build’ project is one of ABCreative’s specialties so this piece was easy. ABcreative along with our CPSI trained (Certified Playground Safety Inspector) crews have developed a fail proof outline for doing a community build project based on volunteers supplying the labor while our installer guides and instructs them. The result is a significant savings for the customer and this is money that can be spent to do a larger play structure.

Volunteers are organized well in advance of the day the play equipment delivers. Responsibilities are well defined so everyone knows what is expected. When the play structure arrives, our install supervisor is there to guide unloading of the truck while overseeing the play structure layout. All of the equipment is organized and the installation of a large play structure can usually be accomplished within 2-4 days time.

Saving money is certainly the initial attraction for doing a supervised installation. However, the sense of pride and ownership the community has after doing a project like this will far outweigh the initial cost savings intent.
