Rich Hill, MO

Why was ABcreative chosen for the project?

The Rich Hill Mayor, civic leaders and the group volunteering to do the playground installation wanted a company that would work closely with them to help realize their vision for the park.

Project overview and highlights.

The group from Rich Hill and ABcreative worked together to come up with several playground layout options that would hit at different points within the project budget range being considered. Once three options were decided upon, they were presented to the City Council during a well-attended public meeting. An overview of the options was given which was followed by a question and answer period. At that point the council openly discussed the options and their recommendation. A unanimous vote was delivered to proceed with the upper end option of the three.

Once the structure was decided upon and the order was placed, organization of the volunteer group began immediately. Students from the Rich Hill Youth Development Center embraced the project from the start. They became the driving force of the project from unloading and inventory of the structure through installation. It was a fantastic experience for the group to work together, problem solve and provide the physical labor to complete the installation.

This project is a centerpiece of community pride in Rich Hill, Missouri for very good reason.

The Berliner Cloud 9 swing is always a big hit in any park. This short video is great example of how younger kids (4 and 5 years olds in this case) will typically play on this piece. The video demonstrates how this accessible multi user swing encourages parallel play and social interaction.
